I Am Thankful

As we approach Thanksgiving, I thought I would take a moment to reflect on what I am thankful for:

• I am thankful that God loved me enough to place in me an emptiness that made me seek him out.
• I am thankful for all the people who cared enough about me to point me to the One who could fill that emptiness.
• I am thankful that Jesus came into my life and has been working on transforming me over these last 29 years since I yielded to him.
• I am thankful for a loving wife of 20 years, three precious daughters, caring parents, supportive brothers, and the wonderful privilege of being a part of the Wynn family.
• I am thankful for the call of God into the work of ministry 22 years ago.
• I am thankful for the call of God to this church 8 years ago.
• I am thankful for each of you and the wonderful relationships I have been able to forge with you during our time together in ministry.

I truly am a blessed man, and I thank you for your love and support of me and my family.
Some of you may remember that last Thanksgiving morning, my father-in-law suffered a spinal hemorrhage that left him paralyzed from the waist down. This event began 8 months of a difficult time in our family which concluded with George’s death in August.

As we approach Thanksgiving this year, the family thought it would be important for us to be in a restful place that doesn’t hold memories of last Thanksgiving. So Brooke, her mom, sisters and families will be gathering at Pawley’s Island the week of Thanksgiving. I believe it is important for me to be present with them, and so I will not be at the Thanksgiving breakfast this year. I have asked Rob Evans, our summer interim pastor, to be present and lead the brief service on my behalf. Communion will be celebrated, and Rob will have a brief message.

I pray that your Thanksgiving is full of the blessing of God and family.

Your friend and pastor,
Pastor Lee
