Women of the Word - Fall 2016

Back for its 15th year of ministry, Women of the Word returns with a new study, Priscilla Shirer’s Discerning the Voice of God. In this six-week study, we will receive practical help in knowing that what we hear is from God. You will become more familiar with God’s Holy Spirit, His character, language, and tone of voice.

The Father so passionately loves you that He sent Jesus to die in your place. He desires a personal relationship in which He speaks directly to you. If you’ve spent most of your Christian life leaning on these beliefs without really experiencing them, this study is for you. No blessing surpasses a relationship with God in which you know when He is specifically calling to you. The more intimate your relationship with Him, the clearer God’s voice becomes.

Evening sessions begin Monday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m in the First Presbyterian fellowship hall and continue through October 24. Morning sessions begin Tuesday, September 13 at 9:15 a.m. and continue through October 25.

The cost is just $12 for the study book. Please bring your Bible, a pen, and a friend, and come expecting to be blessed.

If you have questions, please contact Katherine Team at 336.242.4019.

Presbyterian Women Begins a New Year

Listening to Donna Hurt tell her wonderful stories about her mission work in different parts of the world several weeks ago, PW Moderator Rebecca Sullivan could not help but think of the Presbyterian Women here in our church who are devoted to missions as well. Our Presbyterian Women (PW) not only support our local missions, but along with other women from across our country, they combine their money to help those in need. In PW, we also study God's Word, and this year our study will focus on the life of Jesus. There is always something new to learn! We would love to have you come join us.

Celebrating 40 Years of Acts Alive

Sunday, August 28 marks our 40th Acts Alive Sunday. We hope you will join us for this special service at 10 am in the sanctuary. In addition, we request that all Acts Alive Alumni especially make plans to be with us; we would like for you to come forward and sing "Light the Fire" during the service alongside our current Acts Alive group.

This will be a special day as we gather together to celebrate 40 years of Acts Alive, and we would like you to be part of it.

With Thanks,
Acts Alive Leaders

    208th Army Band in Concert

We are pleased to have the 208th Army Band with us in concert again this year. They will join us on Saturday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. in our sanctuary, presenting an evening of patriotic and sacred music.

Based in Concord, North Carolina, the primary mission of the band is to promote the espirit de corps of U.S. fighting forces, and to serve as a goodwill ambassador throughout North and South Carolina.

As we seek to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom to worship God, we encourage you to join us and bring a friend or two. There is no cost, and the concert is open to everyone, so invite a friend!
